The RISE program invites junior high students to learn research skills in science, technology, engineering and math at Niles North High School’s STEM lab. High school researchers such as Jasmine Gloria (in lab coat, at left) serve as mentors for the younger students. The Education Foundation purchases lab supplies for this exciting program.
The Education Foundation was founded in 2007 through the passion and commitment of a small group of alumni and community leaders who believed in the potential of high school students when offered opportunity and encouragement. Board members donate expertise and time to grow the mission of The Education Foundation through strategic planning and collaboration with our partners, alumni, business community and local supporters. As a result, students visit college campuses, receive college scholarships and much more thanks to the Foundation’s generous donors.
From the beginning, the Foundation’s efforts have been popular and successful with students eager to learn from caring adults who wanted the best opportunities for them. In that first year, the Foundation’s mission focused on providing the basic tools for education for students in need. Within a few short years, the needs of the community grew, as did our mission. Today, more than 33% of students cannot afford a hot lunch meal. Today, there are 50 families within Niles Township who are homeless. Today, the foundation stands ready to support any student within Niles Township who requires assistance to have a meaningful school experience.
The Education Foundation believes that every child within the district deserves a quality education. It can only be accomplished through generous donations. With your support, the Foundation can truly make a difference in a student’s academic career.
